I am taking krill oil...is it good for me? I need the omega 3's, but fish oil is... well, problematic...a bit hard to digest... and flax is also hard to use because it goes rancid pretty easily and I really like chia, but my swami puts it at neutral...whatd'ya think? I have the costco one.

Don't know the answer to your question regarding krill oil but I wanted to ask you why you're having a problem with flax? Flax oil or flax seeds? I keep flax seeds in my freezer and grind as needed.  I also take flax oil capsules which can be refrigerated if necessary.  I buy small bottles
of flax oil if I want to take it off a spoon.  Also refrigerated.

What is the value of flax oil or flax seeds on your SWAMI? Flax has lignans.  Krill doesn't.  And
krill is in the shrimp family so you'd have to see what your SWAMI says about crustaceans.

I know krill is high in astaxanthin which is an antioxidant, but you could take astaxanthin in
a supplement form without using krill.

Do you eat fish?  Are you looking for something that's anti-inflammatory? Because bromelain
is effective for that...  Why did you choose krill?

I need an antiinflammatory for my fingers, I like the idea of astaxanthin (plus I heard it is good for the lungs) I want the cognitive and circulatory (cholesterol control) benefits....I eat fish....
flax has a high value in my swami, but I don;t like using the ground (it must go rancid fast even kept in freezer) and I don;t like grinding it (it makes the grinder sticky and its hard to clean)
I know this is much to say about a minor thing....but hey! that's what we do here! ;)
Now i'll go see if I can have shrimp.
can't find that page of swami but seem to recall I can have it.
Any O's taking krill?

I used to take krill oil until BTD.  As for grinding fresh flax seeds, I use a dedicated grinder for it and have not had any issues with stickiness.

My husband and I take krill oil. I'm an A and he's an O. Works well for me. Have read that krill is better than fish oil because the fish oil has a tendancy to oxidize causing you to need more antioxidants.

Apparently you can freeze flax oil & use it in that state - I was taught that oils don't freeze solid unless they are rancid in the first place ??) :-/

It is meant to be a good way to test if fish or flax capsules are rancid - if they freeze solid chuck them out ::)

Also if the flax goes sticky, could be you are grinding it for too long :-/ & it wouldn't go rancid in the freezer...unless your freezer is not doing its job properly ??)

It's best to pulse your grinder.  The stickiness comes from over heating the flax seed due to the friction of grinding.   ;)

I understand. I even think I know who you are referencing here. The phrase comes to mind, don't throw out the baby with the bathwater. ;)

Feel better on krill oil than the primo fish oil I was taking as well (but could have been some of the other supplements in the mix). Some logic in the thought as well....there is a salmon fisher (who mercury tests) and oil processor who lays out the whole process in great (nauseating) detail. This is a no harm one so I choose to say "fine" and just let it rest. Working for me as I am not eating any fish and don't plan to. Got the thumbs up from Dr. Nash before I started.

Noticed a profound difference in brain functioning and skin after taking, but I was low on fats at the time as well.

There is a lot of bad fish oil out there that shouldn't be sold at all. (There is money there as well.)

I think maybe the real questions on the krill oil-- are there any lectins? Is there any condition where this would not be a good idea? (blood thinners, etc)

How much krill oil do you take each day?  The information I have read about it says that you can take less of krill vs fish oil because it is more concentrated.  

We usually take 4 grams a day of regular fish oil. I also take Bromelain, but can't ramp up to a high dose or I get a headache.  I just picked up Krill oil and debating on the dose to take.

Since Krill oil and fish oil are similar and you are already taking a fair amount of fish oil, I would reduce the fish oil by whatever amount of krill oil I decided to take.

I am going to be taking the Krill oil instead of fish oil.
