In the prop taster kit I'm not sure how to use the strips there a lot of yellow ones and white ones, do I need to to taste them all or are they supposed to be stuck together in 3 rows, because some seem to be stuck-ish?

White strips are "control", meaning that they are plain paper. Put one white on your tongue, wait for a few seconds "to get to know the taste of paper", then take it out, put one yellow stained paper on your tongue and wait for a few seconds to see if it tastes different from the white one. If you don't feel a difference, you are non-taster, if you feel a strong taste as soon as you put the yellow paper on your tongue, you are a super taster, and, if you don't feel a difference at first but then feel a bitter taste building up after a few seconds, you are a slight taster.

Thanks, but am I supposed to separate all the strips? or are some meant to be stuck together?!
roughly how many should I be tasting individually? there are lots but I don't know whether I should separate each one and taste them all - confused.com?

I understand that the strips are stuck together, right, separate one white and use as I described earlier, then separate one yellow and use, you don't have to use more than one strip.

Ok thank you for replying.

So just to clarify, all those strips some which seem loose and some together are:

either all whites (all controls) or all yellows - which have the same taste?

So sorry for sounding dumb but I thought that there were lots of different tastes on the yellow ones and now wonder why there are so many strips, if you only need to taste 1yellow and 1 white (control)? what are the others for, there must be quite a lot, there are three rows with lots of strips on each?

Yes, all white ones are controls and all yellow are with the same taste, you may or may not feel the taste though

Why are there so many of them? Well, some of us are using them in our practice, or in helping to find other people's genotypes. You may want to try that too

That makes perfect sense, thank you so much.  It's the only thing I need to now to get my SWAMI    I will taste test my OH too as I have done most of his genotype testing as well!

The GenoType kit comes with a booklet with 30 test strips (yellow) and thirty control strips (white).

If they were not stuck together you should be able to test thirty people.

If a few are stuck together you should still have enough to test everyone in the family and a few friends as well.

There is also more fingerprinting ink in the kit than you to print one person. (But not enough to fingerprint anywhere near thirty people)
