Kind of interested what some have found for portion/servings changes with the Xpress.

My Live Foods went to 7 servings/day, Grains to 1 serving/day and Dairy to 1 serving/week. Everything else is the same or close.

Curious what others have had.

Well, I never did the Teacher diet and I began with a Teacher SWAMI but my grains are very low in comparison to the type A diet...I can have 3 servings per day, but
a serving of grain is 1/4 of a cup...or one slice of grain bread or 1/2 a muffin...

On my fats and oils it's 1 tsp. 3 or 4 times a week.  That's a miniscule amount of
fat...But ghee winds up in the dairy category and the fat category...so if I use
it from the fat category, I can barely eat any..

And from the dairy category it's only 1/2 tsp. 4 times a week...much less.  So if I wanted to use ghee as both a dairy and an oil, I'd get a bit more...

But thanks for asking this question because I'm starting to realize that I'm eating
more fats than I'm supposed to.....and not enough live foods.

Cheeses are 1-3 oz four times a week...

7 eggs per week.

1 T of nut butters 8 times a week  or 1/4 cup of nuts/seeds

6 cups of live foods per day...(YIKES...I have not been eating this much)

3 sm. to med. fruits per day

3 servings of beverages per day - 6-8 oz.

1T of spices per day

1 tsp of condiments per day (and this includes nutritional yeast, honey, mustard,
soy mayo, veg. glycerine, barley malt, sea salt.

3-5 oz of poultry  twice a week

3-5 oz of fish four times a week.

And that's pretty much it....

In all honesty, it's having to really watch the fats and not just eat handfuls of nuts..
and pay close attention to the size of my protein sources plus fill up my plate with a lot of vegetables and plant foods.  I'm a big salad eater....

Reminds me of the very earliest version of Weight Watchers in the mid 60s...where everything was portioned and carefully measured... very similar in portion sizes to my Teacher diet.

red meats went from 0-2X week to 3X week with 1 supposed to be liver...hence my "beta bug" question about calf liver in the other thread

grains went way down - 1X daily instead of 3-5X daily

veggies reverted to original BTD frequency values (from 4X daily back up to 6X daily)

eggs went from 9/week to 6/week (my inner egg-stealing weasel is sad, but wants to be healthy and will deal with the disappointment by eating the chocolate, caviar, white wine, and beer it got back  )

veggie proteins from at least 1X/day to 4X/week maximum

The rest are pretty much the same quantities.

My red meat is down to 3 x per week
Fowl is 4 x per week
FISH !!! up to 7 x per week (biggest change)
Eggs to 6x per week
Veggies up to 7 x per day

Fish is a scary new change, I live on the Cdn prairies and love beef (easy to cook, great taste).  

I am a light weight when it comes to cooking fish, I am a bit afraid of the lash back from the teenage boys when I up the fish quotient.  My teacher husband will enjoy however.

Grains now 4 times/day with servings doubled on baked goods
10 eggs/wk
most other things at the top of the Hunter range and slightly bigger servings

meat,poultry, fish now total 16 servings/wk.  and mostly 5-7 oz.
poultry is preferably the flying kind, but the only game birds here are quail and they are avoids

In regards to fish.. I was headed to the store today to get MORE chicken since I CAN'T eat meat everyday... sigh..  

and I ran into one of those roadside carts with freshly caught and freeze packaged Alaskan Rock Cod and White Salmon!!!!!

YAAAAA HOOO!!!

Today we had shrimp and chicken as the mains of two meals and we had our grain serving for breakfast.  puffed millet and rice with fruit, egg white protein powder, vanilla extract, and almonds with hemp milk.

Deeeeelicioius!

welllll, I always ate more oil than the diet called for, but now: 3 T. a wk!!!!! This will be a major challenge! I start my day by frying eggwhites in a tsp.......everday. Now if that were all I ate, but no, there's salad, and stirfry.......but I am hearing the voice of truth and am listening!!!!! cut back on the oil!!!!!

Ahhhh, but I get butter or ghee 3 times a wk.     so......I can cook my eggwhites in that and save the oil for salads!!!!!!

Don't you have any diamond oils that can be used to cook with? If so, just use them, because as far as I know the limits don't apply as much to them - more of an as needed/desired just like with the GTD values in the book.

Well, here's my oil options...

Almond Oil
Black Currant Seed Oil
Borage Seed Oil
Chia Seed Oil
Coconut Oil
Flax Seed, Linseed Oil
Hemp Seed Oil
Olive Oil
Perilla Seed Oil
Rice Bran Oil
Safflower Oil

The diamonds are flax, olive, hemp and black currant but aren't showing up here.
And here's my allowable portions..
GT3 'Teacher' (Blood Group A Secretor)
Food choices emphasizing hybridized BTD and GTD values
Portion Size: 1 teaspoon
Frequency: 3 servings weekly.

See, the other fats are coming from different food groups....Like nuts, seeds,
avocado...

But still, this is the equivalent of one Tablespoon of real oil for an entire week...

So here's my nut portions...it's in the vegetable proteins category.

GT3 'Teacher' (Blood Group A Secretor)
Food choices emphasizing hybridized BTD and GTD values
Portion Size: Nuts, Seeds: quarter cup; Nut Butters: 1 tablespoon
Frequency: 8 servings weekly.

So this vegetable protein category only limits the nuts..It says nothing about the
beans. I could probably eat a lot of beans..

And if peanuts are a legume and not a nut, then the quantity shouldn't be limited.

What do you guys think?  Peanuts and peanut butter should be considered like
a fat or a nut?  Or a legume?

I get 6 cups total of live food and avocado is in this group...Can you imagine me
eating 6 cups of avocado every day?

Peanut oil would be an oil/fat. Peanuts would not be an oil/fat.

Chloe: If I was you I'd either use the olive oil for frying (yes, I know, there has been some debate about using it to cook with, but the Italians, and others, have been doing it for 1,000's of years) or use the coconut or rice bran oil.

Either of these options would still leave you the olive oil diamond for making things like mayo and vinaigrettes and other assorted flavorings.

I find I don't need as much coconut oil in particular for sautéing as you do the other oils.

Other options might be steaming or poaching or even boiling (like for eggs).

I was wondering if peanuts are called a nut or a legume..Nuts are located on my SWAMI list  as "Vegetable proteins" .  Nuts are limited to 1 T per nut butter per day or 1/4 cup of nuts.  If I consider peanuts as a legume, there is no limit in that category.

Do you know the answer?

Thanks.  I'm only getting to eat a T of oil per week.

It's actually healthier to steam the veggies and drizzle a bit of oil on top of them..
Or bake the veggies.  I still love eating the coconut oil right from the jar..

I could probably use avocado as a fat substitute in salad dressings.

But peanut butter and other nut butters are more generous portions.. 1T per day.

It's fine.  Because on the Type A diet, I wasn't eating a lot of fat anyway.

I always just assumed that beans and nuts would have the same serving sizes, since they are both nutrient dense foods.  I've always treated them that way.  

Boy Chloe, my serving sizes are a lot different than yours.  I think I like mine better lol!  I get a lot more fat (like 5 times more!) and carbs than you.  

Most all of my serving sizes and frequencies stayed the same or went up from the GT...I don't think any went down.  Whereas the GT gave a range in many cases, my swami does not.  

I've not paid much attention to the serving sizes and frequencies on the GT, but I have to say I would be hard pressed to eat everything on my swami in a week...I don't think I would have time to do much else lol!  I just don't eat that much food.  But I certainly appreciate the guidelines.

No unlimited ghee in swami?       I think I might keep that from the teacher diet...kind of like a souvenir.

Is this true?  Is there no limit in the legume category?  Or is there just not one listed?  

I would be interested to know - does anyone have a portion and frequency for legumes?  My SWAMI doesn't.

I'm clueless about having had 5 different options for SWAMI input data. Where
would I have had an opportunity to enter this information?  Can you please tell
me where this option is located?  I don't remember ever noticing this.

I am 5'3 1/2" tall and weigh about 140 right now...I could probably lose a few pounds but but I noticed that in the past week, just following the Teacher's diet instead of the Warrior diet, I have lost a few pounds.  When I entered my SWAMI
information, I was 143...so that's 3 pounds lost in a week.

Diet seems like it's working pretty well right now even with such low oil
and ghee consumption, but......I really just think a bit more ghee would help
my gut considering my biggest problem is these white lines and I'm gluten intolerant and had so much gut damage.

I'm starting to think I might not be doing great on dairy...My back was stiff for
many days when I was eating it...got diarrhea after 24 hours...didn't think I was  lactose intolerant...no stomach ache...but I felt I was retaining a lot of
fluid...achy and had a major headache.  Also I got little bumps on my butt and
upper chest.  Does that sound like dairy intolerance to anyone who is?  I know
I was tested many years ago and found to reactive to casein in dairy,  But Dr. D
says these Teacher cheeses help heal the gut.

I'm giving this time.. I am only eating 1/2 oz of cheese at a time...and skipping many days in between to see if I can tolerate cheese in teensy quantities.

Ghee is in my dairy section,  but look at my portions for ghee...pretty small..
that's 1/2 tsp more per week than when it was in the fats and oil category.
Actually it was in both sections at the start. I thought I could take one from
column A and one from column B...and "work" the system.  Guess not!

Unfortunately, ghee is not a diamond food on my dairy list...a few cheese are.  I think this is the problem for me.  I'd be better off without so many cheeses and getting to eat as much ghee as I needed.

Only problem is that I'd have to have checked off I was lactose intolerant and
at this moment, that spot is locked and can't be changed.

It's in your SWAMI input data section. To access it do this:

1) Log into SWAMI.
2) Click on the "Edit Your SWAMI Profile" tab at the top.
3) Scroll down to Section 2 (Blood Groups & Related Choices).
4) Find the row titled "Category Portion Size and Frequency" - it's toward the bottom of the section.
5) Click on the corresponding drop-down to select your portions.
6) Go to the bottom of the page.
7) In the last section (it's after the fingerprint pattern section), select the 2nd choice "Save and Prepare to Print Diet Report".
8 ) Click "Save SWAMI Profile and Continue".
9) The new proportions you choose should appear in your new report.

Well of course, I wasn't a Warrior and eating their diet.  I was also eating more
protein than I am now.  And more fat than I am now..although I'm eating the
nuts I'm supposed to eat, I'm measuring out portions because they're limited
to 1/4 cup per day.  You should see me squish them down with effort into that
measuring cup, hoping to squeeze in one more nut...!

More vegetables now.   I am consciously eating my 3 portions of fruit per day.

And although my grain category isn't very much, I'm not walking around hungry.

Either you are not understanding or something is wrong with your report/printout.

Ghee should not be in your Dairy section. It belongs in the Fats and Oils section. Re-check your dairy listings (not the portions section - ignore what it might say about ghee and butter in the portions section of dairy - Dr. D. said it does not belong there). You should not find ghee listed in any of the columns there (superfood, neutral, or avoid).

Next, check in your Fats and Oils section. That is where your ghee should be listed. Follow those portions except for foods listed as diamonds.

If ghee is not a diamond in the Fats and Oils section for you, then perhaps you need to consider the possibility that there may be other issues that need to be addressed first that you are not aware of or that some other food(s) would address better than the ghee.

I did not say that you should change it. I was only telling you how to do it if you felt you should.

What I did does not matter because you and your body are not me. We are different. You need to consider yourself on this matter, not me.

If you truly need to change a locked category, you can contact NAP customer service and request they unlock it for you.

Personally, I would not advise you do this, since from what I have been reading you saying it sounds as if cheese and dairy, in general, do not set very well with your system. I would suggest you give the diet a try as it's currently written. After all, SWAMI is meant to make changes.

You need to report your ghee being in the dairy section on the bug thread if you haven't already done so.

My apologies about mis-reading your lactose intolerance. Call or e-mail NAP's customer service and explain to them, like you did in the bug thread, that you have been told you are casein intolerant and so you feel that you need it changed.

Yes, I would think it would diminish your cheese choices, but as to whether or not it would have any effect on your ghee at all or not, I have no idea. I can see where it might, but I can also see where it might not. You'd just have to try it and find out.

NOTE: as long as data is not locked, you can edit and revise it as many times as you need to - no limit

I noticed you have already reported the ghee being in your dairy section on the bug thread.

If I were you, I'd go back over to that thread and edit what you said so that it includes the cut and paste you just posted on this thread.

With the cut'n'paste Dr. D. can see what it's doing. I think he might find the fact that it's displaying those numbers after the items especially helpful. The more info. he has the faster he can find what's wrong and correct it for you.

Tea Rose just informed me that ghee belongs in dairy....OMG....difficult to keep
noticing everything that changes so quickly, right?

I don't get mad very easily unless I'm eating foods that are so wrong for me,
they make me feel horribly irritable.

Now if you had been chatting with me while I was mistakenly on the
Warrior diet.... I might have been rrrrreally rrrrreally mad!

That answers a big question for me.  I have a diamond superfood with 0 portions per week.

That said.... can I then increase my diamond superfood kefir back up from 4 oz 3 times weekly to 8 oz daily?


It is what it is so I'm dealing with it.
