I have been snooping around, and although Acne affects 85% of Americans, due to their terrible SAD diets, I have noticed that it's mostly non-secretors that seem to have it. Is this true? Keratosis Pilaris too, mostly non-secretors have it. Do nonnies no assimilate things as well? Why do nonnies even exist, it just seems like we are the weakest links, set up to fail.

I wouldn't say that, at all. I know a number of Nonnies, and they're very intelligent, capable, talented and interesting people (can't list every one of their good qualities here due to space limitations). <:
Just like with anything in life, it's better when you more fully grasp everything with which you have at your disposal, i.e., that with which you have to work, so that you can make choices to minimize that which, on the surface, might appear to be a negative and enhance those things which create positivity in your life. Of course, years of trial-and-error (sometimes even learning things the really hard way) are what allows me to know the truthfulness of the aforementioned.
As for supporting your skin, if these are amongst your beneficial foods, juicing two stalks of celery and four carrots daily will assist in providing nutrients that promote the health of your skin. (I know a 20-something woman that swears by this for helping maintain her clear complexion.)
P.S. Being a Nonnie is just a matter of being different, like being left-handed, and different is good!

You're so sweet! I didn't mean to sound like a negative nancy! I'm just going to college soon, and afraid my skin will blow up, and I won't be able to find things to eat and such!

Umm my skin would actually react big time to this... I react to sugars in foods & carrots seem to have to high a level

I know exactly how you feel!! I am going away for a family reunion in less than a week, which involves the unavoidable - eating out!! I do find digestive enzymes & natural antihistamines (which includes quercitin) help enormously in this sort of situation btw

Could be a question of cortisol having a more negative effect on nonnies. And of course if nonnies get hormonal imbalances the impact is more immediate too.
Nonnies are the First Alert response unit to the Universe, my friend! Even if there were but one Genotype - there would be Nonnies - to warn the community about impending avoids and diseases harmful to others! I also happen to think lots of Nonnies are empaths and psychics. It only makes sense.

I have worse acne right now than either of my teenaged daughters. I'm just overall less healthy than they are- I have decades of "eating wrong" to heal from, while they only "ate wrong" for 14 or 15 years, and the last 2 years of clean eating was enough for them to heal from that.

Where are you going to school? Most college or University towns have great alternative restaurants, HFStores, and health conscious people. BTW, I saw the video you posted about taking out your braids, you are a very beautiful young woman, don't be afraid of anything!

Maybe you can establish a "core element" of staples to always have around; even if they are canned foods in/away from your dorm! Or ask your family to give you a graduation present of a food dehydrator, or such. That way if you're offered a Chee-toh or Oreo between classes by frenetic peers (who will be smoking and drinking by now....due to 20 years of lectins and now vitamin deficiencies sadly building up).....you can smile and say " I choose to be lectin-free, but thank you!"

There's a Whole Foods Market in Hicksville - and probably closer to Stonybrook as well. You know they must be scattered about, because those in the Hamptons absolutely would not hear of not having one! Perhaps one near the LIRR.

Yes ! You are so motivational! I'm super good at not eating things the normal American salivates over!

Yes! That is wonderful! I just discovered rice flour pancakes! I make chocolate ones! So good! Maybe the campus chef can make them for me! Or I can just eat fruit for breakfast! It's going to be okay! America has designed food to eat not food to live! We must eat to live, but who says we can't enjoy it!?

Oh no! I am sorry you ever had it! Acne is not "normal," no matter what anyone says! It's the body breaking down when it needs to be built up, like during puberty and pregnancy when it arises! Even some babies have it and obviously adults! It makes one do self conscious, paranoid, and restrictive! I just want to live, laugh, touh, love, and flourish!

Not wanting to be a negative Nelly, but I sure do hope you get something as well as just fruit to make up your breakfast? I really doubt as an O that fruit will sustain you for long enough & the sudden rush of sugars into your system may just upset your skin too...(It sure does mine - even from high glycemic vegs on an empty stomach) Even if you could eat some cheese with it, (or some chia seeds soaked overnight in a glass of water), you might do better

The one in Jericho (just north of the Hicksville border) is a 40 minute drive from Stonybook University. The one in Lake Grove is less than 5 miles away. I don't know the area well (I went to school in DE) but there might be other stores with a decent selection of compliant foods within walking distance of campus. I know that when I went to college, I could walk to a natural foods co-op, which carried lots of healthy, organic foods. I didn't know about BTD then, but plenty of the foods they sold there were BTD compliant. There might be a similar store (without a national name we can think to google) near your school.
