I did choose my own type--well, what is PROBABLY my type--O nonnie. I don't know yet for sure, but everything in my medical history points to it.
This may sound a little weird, but I spent many years hating my body and how it looked and worked. It's just been in the little while that I've come to actually like my hunter-gatherer, wonky old prototype body. It's gotten me this far even though I've eaten just about everything that was pure poison to it--and it's healing itself now on the BTD. So I'm happy.

Love this question! I thought about it a while before answering. I sometimes have B envy because I really love cheese, but prefer the O secretor diet overall. Love that meat, but like to have the greater range of grains, sweeteners, etc. than nonnies. Most of all, I think the O secretor health risks are the most benign, ulcers, arthritis and inflammation compared to heart disease, cancer and MS. Plus I'm not good at being sick since I rarely am, just don't think I could handle the nonnie challenges.

Prior to the BTD, I was intuitively eating many of the beneficial foods that were important for my health, which made being an 'A' a very smooth transition into the BTD. I love the backbone of the 'A' secretor diet: tofu, tempeh, beans, lots of fish, many fruits, peanut butter/peanuts, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, the benefit of tolerating grains/bread/starches, and the unlimited number of vegetables we are allowed!
My second choice would be 'A' nonsecretor, then blood type 'AB' as they have a good balance of beneficial foods from each blood group.

yaman, I can agree with you there. The major disadvantage I can think of being an O secretor is the dairy issue. I love dairy! I miss dairy! But, I do have the benefit of all that meat, veggies, and fruits! Now, if only I can find a way to make creamy sauces, desserts, etc.
The first step toward success is taken when you refuse to be a captive of the environment in which you first find yourself. Good health to you & yours.
to whom it may concern!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hey you, yes yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyooooooooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
yooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu forgot my "non-secretor "status!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I will tell you something (hi-hi-hi)I won't admit it (perhaps???!? and re-belotte- once more please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! B.r.ISA-M.
I think I am OK with my blood type as I enjoy the things I eat. I guess I would only pick A nonsecretor because they can have peppers and tomatoes. I miss cajun seasoning and salsa sometimes.
I think it's funny how few Bs are here, yet how many votes B got... Maybe we're advanced? I know being a non is harder for your health overall, but I still think it's the best diet... I love dairy, tomatoes and the occasional drink. And of course, all the veg and fruit. I do miss pastas and breads sometimes, though. I suppose everyone has to miss something.
Yeah, I did vote for my type and secretor status. It was actually quite easy for me to transition to the BTD. However, I do miss corn and would love to have just ONE type of olive that I could eat compliantly. The lack of compliant oils eliminates most packaged foods - probably a good thing health-wise.
I do get tired of dairy sometimes...
Grass is always greener, I guess.

EASY! Always knew I'd choose type B, probably secretor, either one would do. But then found myself reflecting on the joys of being an A nonnie, like me ol' Bryan. That is a really great diet! and Hey, then we'd be on the same plan. Probably shouldn't have brought that element into the mix, but it did occur to me in passing. And funny thing, my B-devotion wavered.
I mused back & forth, couldn't settle, so went to Live Right and examined both the A and B sections again r e a l l y carefully (this is a huge life decision, not to be made lightly!! ).
Now, rather than a three-line post, you're getting this one. Well, what a head scratcher it was. Without thinking about it, I would have said Yes to either of the above. On serious inspection, it quickly became clear that neither one would... quite... do, for one little pinch or another, and some bigger reasons, too. KeeRap, this should NOT be so difficult... but there it was. I just wouldn't be happy with either one -- and I'm perfectly well pleased with my current polymorphic configuration. Sighed, pointed the mouse at the O non button, and....
forgot I hadn't even looked at the AB pages. Two seconds glancing over them, and LIGHTBULB!!!!
A2B Nonsecretor Rhesus Neg ... that's my write-in, Aewoyn.
It's perfect... a step closer to vegetarian day-to-day cooking, but with roughly one serving of meat and one of fish daily, grain here & there, soy here & there, veg selections are a joy (tomatoes & potatoes & sweet potatoes no problem - can someone say, Hallelujah?) the cheese selections are superb for those special occasions. AND THE FRUIT LIST. WHOO-HOO!
The corn thing and lack of sweeteners? Heck, I live with that now. Hot chilis? WHO CARES?? And I was never so wild about chicken OR bananas that I wouldn't trade them for strawberries, blackberries and apples in a heartbeat. Mmm... I'm loving this already.
Any of these extremely rare critters around on the board? Likely not. Probably too busy going about their happy foodster lives to stop by.
If I woke up an A2B-neg nonnie tomorrow, I'd stretch luxuriantly and whisper two little words: "Champagne." "Caviar."
thanks for this great poll, Aeowyn! fits nicely with the other "other side" poll, doncha think?
Being an O sec. is the type I would choose. Why? Because it is what I am used to.
Before reading the BTD book I had already taken myself off of some of the food items that were on the Avoid list. I was seeing an allergist he told me I had no allergies only sensitivites. I took myself off of some of the foods trying to find out what my body couldn't handle. I was told about the BTD by a clerk at a health food store and began following it. Being on the BTD is no biggy since I already had myself on some part of it. I like how the BTD makes me feel good and not sick all the time.
I had also read a book on Food Combining and follow some of the rules it talked about. I found out I eat to fast and eat some wrong combinations. I wish I would have known all these things when I was younger.
I chose B secretor. I followed BTD as a secretor the first 1 1/2 years. I think I was happier then. I at least had less guilt when I ate avoids. I still drink 1 coffee a day, and I shouldn't. If I were a secretor, that wouldn't be an issue. And I could eat more grains. I used to love eating almond butter and jam sandwiches on spelt bread. Now I get 1 - 4 servings of grain a week. Not enough to make it worth buying a loaf of spelt bread.
Yes Heidi, this does fit with the other survey. It was when I posted my avoid menu that I realized most of the things I want to eat are good for other blood types
I want to be a B with a side of secretor please. I've always envied Bs, and I'm sticking to it!
Is it possible to get tired of dairy? Kristin, can this be true? I know that diary makes this O nonnie congested, but if I could have diary AND breathe... I would gladly trade some of my meat for yogurt and CHEESEEEEEE. Who needs chicken, there are plenty of other meat in the sea... I mean land.
And look at all the grains. Oats are not only allowed - they are beneficial!!
The biggest downside for B secretor is bye-bye tomato (you have to know that when I was on a non BTD diet that didn't allow tomatoes, I once told a co-dieter to sue me as I ate one anyway!), but with all the sauces I could have with dairy, I'd trade the tomato in a heart beat.
I'm kinda used to not eating potatos - but as a B I would gladly add this back as an occassional treat.
I bet Bs could even make a compliane CHEESE CAKE......
Avoid menus..... changing blood type..... I was driving to work yesterday and I swear I smelled cake. As I got closer to work I was sure I smelled frosting. I thought it might be all these seductive polls - but I swear it was REAL. Can an O nonnie get in trouble by smelling sugar? I did not ingest - I only inhaled!
Linda...buy a loaf of Ezekiel and leave it in the freezer...it's pre-sliced and defrosts quickly under the broiler. And as I sit here, eating cottage cheese with a spoon of fig jam, I think: no, it's not possible to be sick of dairy.
salut heidi, heeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrllllllich Dein statment-I love your form of writings-jaaaouuu- so you teached me now-that I am allowed as being an A2B,Rh.pos.but "non-sechi" that I may have caviar? T tought thats was undergoing into avoids???? Therefore I ask, today for the last time, please help me for the nonnnie-recipes.I think I don't know aanything about this, must be very honest now, as I am doing the mediteranian (Francia)cutchina I am looking for me for the avoids, bien-sure auch for my life-partner which is an O!!!!!!!!!And then hoppala-wurschtl-wurschtl I cook................................................................. It makes me sometimes a little but more than "insure",sometimes I'd like to practise the BTD in 1000000%- and then gettin insure by questionin if I am right with my doings???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääääää I have all,not true, the cancerbook idont' have it, but the rest of all the books of Dr.D. are in my daily use-most frequent the enciclop.so there I am finding all at once. But be aware-my dear, that being an AB is not everytime soooooooooooooooooo easy-sometimes your A is calling hey you-what are you doing here-ought to.......and next five minutes your B makes you doing foolish things like saucey jokes (the A gives his statment in cynique forms......) and so you are stretched the whole day................................dont' neet any sports any more------ easy like that hihihi No sir,I think I must work also over all the themes, because I thought that all is well- no sir- I must repeat and reoeat and then ther comes a client and all is in an other way-because we can't reglement or fix up a "living person"only where rigidité is, there is sickness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey thanks all of you-made me thinking-super-super-thanks again-truly yours I.M.
