Hi all, I know that grains generally not good for type O specially wheat. I do not like eating meat in mornings except dilli meat Eggs only one or two times a week as a breakfast. However, I found that steel cut oat is gluten free unless it is contaminated from the machines. Also, I found it is neutral for type O. So, I decided to creat my own breakfast to satisfy my morning craving for carbohydrates. But let me know please what do you think? ingredients: 1/4 cup steel cut oat 1cup boiled water dash of iodized salt dash of grounded cardamom one tea spoon grounded flax seeds one tea spoon turbinado brown sugar for topping: walnuts and blueberries In a non sticky pan: add hot boiled water with dash of salt then add oat and cardamom and flax seeds. cook for 20 minutes till water is absorbed and the meal is creamy . stir occasionally. then at the end add the brown sugar and remove from heat. pour in a plate. garnish with blueberries and walnut and enjoy with an avoid cup of coffee I am trying hard to eliminate coffee during the day. But for me early morning coffee is hard to eliminate. so tell me what do you think of this breakfast. Thanks |

That recipe looks compliant for O secretors, but many individuals do horribly on that many carbs first thing in the morning. For me personally, morning carbs lead to carb cravings all day long. I can't handle grains OR fruit first thing like that, espeically not mixed together.
The real question is how YOU feel after eating that for breakfast. Do you feel satisfied and energetic, or do you feel sleepy and hungry again in an hour?
I'd also suggest replacing the iodized salt with sea salt, or at least unprocessed kosher salt. Iodized salt usually uses corn-based dextrose to hold the iodine into the salt.
I was on BTD for a few weeks before I attempted to wean off coffee. I needed to take that step separately, after I'd adjusted to all the other dietary changes. I now start the day with yerba mate and cocoa powder, followed by 2 large glasses (4 servings) of iced green tea. It's the same amount of caffeine as in 1 cup of coffee, but all from compliant sources. |

Well, First of all. Thank you very much for your informative responses.
Lola thanks for the informative resources.
Goldie and Ruthiegirl thank you too for sharing. I should look for unprocessed kosher salt. but I kind a heard from Dr.Deaamo that iodized salt is good for type O because Iodine encourages metabolism specifically thyroid gland. Also Yerba mate , I have not heard of that before! I should try it. The thing is after eating this at around 6 am. I feel really good till 12 . No snacks, no cravings nothing. so This is why I liked it.
I have a question: Does knowing secretor or non secretor matter a lot. I think I am secretor because 80% of people are. and I can tolerate some grains like sprouted wheat, brown rice flour, and steel cut oats! But let me know what do you think?
Thanks again for your sharing.

Try oat bran instead of oats. It's one of my regular breakfasts, and I have blood sugar problems. Also, instead of sugar, try a tablespoon of ghee for a filling, savory version. |
| My SWAMI diet is a blend of BTD and GTD Explorer, but I'm not totally compliant. Also I try to choose foods that have a Low Glycemic index. DW and DD are A+, probably also Explorer. |

Yes, I do add cinnamon (and ginger) to my oat bran, but I didn't want to change the original recipe completely. |

I have a question: Does knowing secretor or non secretor matter a lot.
here is some trivia for you 80% of patients visiting Dr D s clinic are in fact nonnies.....meaning we have more health issues to address..... Read about the non secretor issue http://www.dadamo.com/knowbase/newbie/a.htm |

If this steel-cut oatmeal breakfast can hold you for 6 hours, then I'd say it's a good choice for you personally. It's also very likely that you're a secretor, or it's doubtful that you'd feel so good after eating oats. |
