Pizza Sauce Substitute, modified


Pizza sauce to use instead of tomato based sauce. This recipe is based on someone else's Pizza Sauce Substitute recipe. I used the base recipe and it didn't go over so well, so I made some changes to it and thought it turned out much better. I found that used this way it adds more flavor and moistness to the pizza.

  • 2 teaspoons sugar [non-secretors try agave, etc. or omit]
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 3 drops anise flavoring
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons tapioca flour [or BTD compliant substitute such as arrowroot]
How to make it:
  1. Mix the olive oil, tapioca flour and the spices in a sauce pan on medium heat until till thickened.
