Arabian Baked Fish

I discovered this recipe in Dr. D' Adamo's Eat right 4 your Type book. I have made it a few times in my home, mainly because it is listed in both the Type A and Type O meal planning ideas. It is worth the money and the time to make this dish as it is very good.

  • 1 large Halibut or whitefish (3 to 4 pounds)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 large onions chopped and sauteed in olive oil (I use yellow onions as a personal preference)
  • 2 to 2 1/2 cups Tahini sauce
  • Tahini sauce:
  • 1 cup organic tahini
  • juice of 3 lemons
  • 2 cloves of garlic, crushed
  • 2 to 3 teaspoons salt (I use sea salt)
  • 1/4 cup dried parsley flakes, or fresh parsley chopped finely
  • water
How to make it:
  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Wash the fish and dry thoroughly. Sprinkle with salt and lemon juice. Let stand for 30 minutes. Drain fish. Brush with oil and place in a baking dish. Bake for 30 minutes.
  3. Cover with sauteed onions and tahini sauce. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Return to the oven and bake until fish is easily flaked with a fork (about 30 to 40 minutes).
  4. Serve the fish on a platter and garnish with parsley and lemons wedges.
  5. Tahini sauce:
  6. In a bowl, mix tahini with lemon juice, garlic, salt and parsley. Add enough water to make a thick sauce.
