Barley Spelt Bread for Breadmaker

Description:

This is a really yummy recipe using rolled barley that replaces wheat based breads.

Ingredients:
  • For a 1 lb loaf
  • 1/2 c water
  • 1 T canola oil
  • 1 1/2 T honey
  • 1 t salt
  • 1/3 c cooked barley
  • 2 1/2 c spelt flour (12 ounces)
  • 2 T powdered whey
  • 1 1/2 t active dry yeast (I use fast acting and cook on rapid cook setting)
How to make it:
  1. Put the ingredients in the bread pan in the order listed, or in the reverse order if the manual for you machine calls for the dry ingredients first and liquids last.
  2. Select Basic Wheat Cycle, Light Setting (or the equivalent setting for you machine).
  3. Push start.
