DESCRIPTION: Count me as one of those type A's who does not do better on a low fat, high carbohydrate diet nor as a vegetarian. Not only do I feel depressed and de-energized on such a diet, but I also gain weight rapidly. I tried it out for three months and gained about 15 pounds. I continue to follow the "avoid" and "favorable" lists just in case there are longterm benefits, but I use animal products among my protein sources and I am a Zoner, and doing very well at it. Losing weight slowly but steadily and feeling and looking much better as I progress. If the lifestyle/dietary change theory of development for blood types is correct, then it seems to me that we Europeans do not have a significant history of vegetarianism. All the European vegetarians I know of were doing so because of economics or war, and they didn't do well. They became sickly and puny and immigrated to the States so they didn't have to depend on potatoes...So. Perhaps Asian type A's have adapted genetically to a vegetarian diet...but many Asian peoples that consider themselves principally vegetarian eat quite a bit of fish.It seems to me that human beings are omnivores who can survive without animal protein but do much better without it. We also have the behavioral and social characteristics of predators. Which ain't such a bad thing, really, once you get used to the idea. That's why we get along so well with dogs and cats.
