Characterization Notes:A similar lectin was isolated from the roots of Ononis hircina See: Biochim et Biophys Acta 1978 (539); 287-293
Biological Activity:It is relatively specific for human type O erythrocytes that are agglutinated at a minimal lectin concentration 0.3 microgram/ml. The lectin agglutinates A, B and O erythrocytes with a preference for O erythrocytes. The lectin is not mitogenic when tested with rabbit lymph node lymphocytes.
