| Source Organism: | |
| Species: | Homo sapiens |
| Common Nomenclature: | E-cadherin |
| Class: | |
| Index Nomenclature: | CDHh.Hom.Sap.xx.XxxE |
| Characterization Notes: | E-cadherin, a calcium-dependent transmembrane glycoprotein, is an adhesion molecule. The loss of E-cadherin expression may be involved in regional lymph node metastasis and in malignant potential of thyroid neoplasms. See:J Surg Oncol 2001 Mar;76(3):176-80 For role of P and E-cadherins in metastasis, See:Mod Pathol 2001 May;14(5):423-7 There are higher levels of soluble E-cadherin in cyst fluid from malignant ovarian tumours than in benign cysts. See: Anticancer Res. 2001 Jan-Feb;21(1A):65-70. |
