Gallstones "pebbles" formed by the precipitation (crystallization) of cholesterol (most common in the U.S. and Europe) or bilirubin (most common in Asia) in the gallbladder. Gallstones may be asymptomatic (without symptoms) or they may result in inflammation and infection of the gallbladder. |
