Cold agglutinins A test which measures the level of cold agglutinins in the blood. These are antibodies that cause red blood cells to clump together upon exposure to cold temperatures. Cold agglutinins may be found in the following: infectious mononucleosis, influenza, atypical pneumonia, multiple myeloma, Mycoplasmal pneumonia, cirrhosis, congenital syphilis, malaria, cytomegalovirus infection, staphylococcal sepsis, scleroderma, scarlet fever, tonsillitis, trypanosomiasis, pulmonary embolism, peripheral vascular disease, and idiopathic cold agglutinin disease. |
