Ankylosing spondylitis

An inherited condition that results in the progressive calcification and hardening of the ligaments in the spinal column. Most commonly affects the neck and lower back. Over time progression leads to a stooped posture and a stiff spine. Thought to be more frequent in blood group MM and non-secretors.
