Reactions to that antibiotic are usually a rash, or diarrhea perhaps. The DPT reaction can range from high fevers, excessive crying, to seizures. They now make an "acellular" form of the DPT vacccine, which will soon be standard. Much fewer problems with it. Or, you can opt for the pediatric DT and skip the pertussis altogether, which is usually the culprit.
