In Response To: Supplements and Athletic Performance (Myles)

Myles,

Yours is a very interesting post; I hope there
will be a lot of debate around this one. After
what others have said, I have given up my post-workout whey drink
and substituted a smoothie with raw eggs.
However, I still take Vitamin C, Creatine,
and DHEA.

Even though, I have been eating healthy for a
long time now, I still would get 1-2 cols per year.
I have noticed that Vitamin C has made me completely
immune to colds. It also raises my energy level.

Despite what you have said, I really have noticed
a big difference with Creatine as far as muscle
mass.

My job is VERY stressful and that eats away at
DHEA. When I had my DHEA levels tested last year
(before taking DHEA), they were a bit low. My
job demands a high level of intellectual acuity
and my performance in that regard has increased
since I began taking DHEA supplements.

As far as workout recovery, I feel that I am
taking nough time between workouts ( I split
my workouts per body part, working ech one
twice a week), it is the immediate period after
the workout that sometimes gives me trouble.
I mean sometimes I get so sore that it
interferes with sleep.

The nude sunbathing is essential. As a fellow
sanfranciscan,I hve to wonder how you do it with
the crappy weather we have been having...

-Thomas
