In Response To: Re: Combining animal proteins and fruits (Thomas Seay)
in a previous post, i wrote that ingestion of a sweet food; such as fruit or a sweet, a frozen frou-frou cocktail, a frappe and so on: will INHIBIT the digestion of the other food in your stomach, (to be precise, the digestive work really begins in the mouth as you chew) the pancreas excretes enzymes to begin work on the sweet while it "halts" the digestive work on the protein or starch. This causes the discomfort you mentioned. experiment with various food combos using the food combining charts as a guideline eg: some fruit (non-acidic) works ok for me combined with yoghurt. No starch however. See what works. But if you are going to have fruit at a meal, perhaps you should combine it with something easy to digest- such as yoghurt or lettuce et al. md
