Dental Work/Canker Sores

I know this is not strictly ER4YT but I have noticed leniency on the part of the BM's, so I'm hoping they will leave this for me to get some input. My Mother is in her mid-50's and has had rotten teeth her whole life. She has been sick alot, especially the last 10-15 years. In January of this year, she had some teeth removed and her health (not surprisingly) has improved a great deal. The problem is she is now getting canker sores - multiple canker sores - so badly sometimes she can't eat. We know it's caused by a virus. And possibly inadequate processing of nutrients. She uses Tea Tree Oil directly on it and takes Acidophilus. (These were the best suggestions so far). And while this does alleviate the symptoms and pain somewhat, she can't eat anything for days/weeks on end. So does anyone know how long the virus can run its course? Anyone with experience using other natural/organic things? Any other relief methods? This would be greatly appreciated. If you like, email me directly so we don't use too much space on the board. Thanks in advance.
