Hi Heidi,
The prior definition I gave you was from Webster's dictionary, and I don't find that it is wrong. What I believe you are lQQking for is also called 'Apios Americana Medikus', which does have a common name that distinguishes it from other groundnuts. Actually, it has many. Some of which are Apios, Bog Potato, Indian Potato, Potato Bean, Virginia Potato, Wild Bean, and Wild Potato. There are currently attempts to cultivate it in the states, and there is extensive info available about it. It has a pretty flower, which is available at the link below.
