I've noticed that it's pretty common for people to put these little symbols at the end of a sentence ;-). Does this mean something or is it just some kind of internet fad/trend? Well, yes and yes. That was someone winking at you, so you know not to take them too seriously. "Emoticons" were invented for use in e-mail and Usenet articles to convey what you cannot see--facial expressions. There are some pretty funny lists of emoticons out there, but I don't have any URLs handy.
