Ed,
What you write has truth and merit. However, what also has merit is that there is an overwhelmingly frightening trend in America to "victimize" everyone and everything. I strive daily to teach the students in my classroom that they are the ones who need to take control over their lives. We don't allow excuses and "he dids" and "she dids". What we do allow are the "I dids" and the "I cans" and "E+R=0" which is Event + Your Response = Outcome.
