Dr. D. It is amazing the way people behave. I have read a couple of books that address this phenomenom. One is by Wayne Dyer,"The Sky is the Limit". I never could understand why people limit themselves so much. Then I watched a Carolyn Myss video called "The Energetics of Healing" She describes the Chakra system and how our beliefs are encoded in them. Our family beliefs , for example are in the first chakra, addictions in second chakra. Once they are in there, it is hard to change them. Take superstitions, if you were taught that it is bad luck to open an umbrella in the house and someone dared you to do it, would you? Your reasoning tells you it shouldn't matter, but your belief system probably has more power. She made the statement that it is hard to reason with the stuff of the first three chakras. People cling to these beliefs. I think this is what happens with people, they are afraid of change because of the unknowns. It is easier to adopt a belief and then "know" what will happen. Or they think they know. In 20 years, these same people will be touting your diet like they always have. I think fear is the factor here. People become very defensive. People fear change more than illness. Whew!
