What's the consensus on CANOLA oil???

I remember that a while back there were a number of posts about canola oil -mostly referring to an article or 2 on the net that said canola oil was really dangerous. I don't remember whether or not we ever came to any conclusions about it but ever since then I have been really hesitant to eat anything with it. I was just hoping that someone could shed somne light on this topic because canola is a very popular oil and I don't want to be scared of it if it's safe.
I'd appreciate any comments. Thanks
