Are you from the 'Show-Me-State'? :-)
You ask a lot of good questions. Maybe I can give some good answers.
First, Dr. D'Adamo's work is well documented and researched. The book has many references printed in it. If you go to the Archives and Arcana Section of this board, you will find lots of notes, references and documentation.
Second, concerning quality of life. What quality of life are you now living? Are you as fully healthy and robust as you want to be? If so, then keep going, you are obviously doing something right for your body. If not then maybe it's time to change something. That's the situation I was in, as are many people who turn to this way of eating.
I have a life threatening, incurable illness. By following this eating plan, I find that it is no longer incurable, and can now look forward to living a long healthy, robust life. Will it be ten years longer or shorter? I don't know, statistics are meaningless on a personal level.
Whether or not to believe that a vegetable grown in your own garden is beneficial or harmful to you is your choice. All we can do is present the information we have to date (this is a new science) and our personal stories. It is then up to you to make the choice that you think is best for you. Incidentally, the tomato, which you used as your example, was long thought of as poison by Europeans, and only recently (several hundred years) added to the food chain. There are a lot of type A Europeans. Is this coincidence?
