In Response To: Re: shower filters - any that remove chloramine and flouride? (Brian)
Hi Brian - Cloramine is apparently a combination of chlorine and ammonia. So, I guess the next step is to find out if any process removes ammonia. I found two sites that contain a fair bit of information on the alternatives that are available for water filtration. The one claims that ozone will chelate out heavy metals and flouride, but that that method will not likely work in your home, due to the long contact time necessary for them to do so.
Both of these sites are promoting various products if you trace them back to their home pages. However, the articles are comprenhensive and present the pros and cons of various approaches to filtering water in a thorough manner. I do not endorse any of their products in any way, and am presenting this as iinfomation only. The sites are: http://pwn.com/~pwn/guide.html http://www.familyhealthnews.com/art_16.html Neither of them say anything about a shower filter that might remove chloramine or flouride. Kind regards, Kathleen
