We all come to this way of choosing foods and to this board for a variety of reasons and past medical histories.
In short, yes you can heal. The first step, is to stop eating the things that cause us damage. The second step is to avoid the allergens, or trigger foods. These are foods that should be healthy for you, but because of the 'leaking gut,' your immune system is over-reactive to them.
The third step is appropriate supplementation.
Now comes the hard part - The diet is pretty well laid out. This is a new science, so there are probably some inaccuracies, but it's the best we've got so far.
The allergies are harder to diagnose. Each practitioner has their own prefered modality (ELISA, Kinesiology, EAV, Elimination Diet, etc), and often they produce unreliable and contradictory results. It's up to you to put the puzzle pieces together to figure out which foods you are 'allergic/reactive' to.
1) Each practitioner dispenses what they are familiar with (and, potentially, I'm sorry to say, what produces the best income stream for them).
2) It's up to you again to investigate the ingredients of these supplements and determine if they are appropriate for your condition.
3) Nobody on this board can dispense medical advice to you, beyond pointing you to general recommendations that have been made by Dr. D'Adamo and other published credentialed type of folk.
Go slow and be patient. It took a long time to get sick, it will take a while to get better.
I also had and have 'carbo cravings,' and occasionally gave into them. Am I a bad person? No, just human, doing the best I can with the situation I am in (Type O with life-threatening auto-immune disease)
