Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

I have two close friends, an older couple, who discovered that their heater had been leaking carbon monoxide fumes for many months. Now that the problem has been corrected, does anyone out there have any wisdom relating to any herbs or such that might assist in clearing any of the residue out of their body, if in fact CO2 does collect in the body tissues - I don't know. Thanks much.
