In Response To: Is Heart Rate and Metabolism Linked? (jeanb)
I have always had a very fast resting heart rate, and my metabolism is average to fast. However, since starting the type O diet, my resting heart rate has decreased, yet I have not lost or gained any weight. I attribute the decline of my heart rate to eating fewer allergenic foods. When eating wheat and corn, for example, it may have been possible that my heart rate went up as a symptom of an allergic reaction. If the diet helps decrease the resting heart rate of those individuals whose heart rates are ver fast, then the diet (according to your theory) would cause us to 'gain' weight, rather than 'lose' weight. This would lie contrary to the intended goal of the diet- to lose weight and promote a faster metabolism.
