I moved to a different area of the country a few months ago, and one thing I miss is the community food coop where I shopped and worked at.
The coop I'm talking about started out twenty years ago with a few people getting together and buying bulk items and taking turns being the drop shipment point. Since then, It's grown into a small supermarket with all kinds of diverse foods and sub-groups of specialized people who eat on different planes of thought. Yea, it gets political but what doesn't?
The area I'm in now has a farmer's market day where "alternative" organic vegetables are the rage. Many of the gourmet restaurants are clueing in the trend to be different and unique.
Health food stores are great places to also get the good information(Nutrition and USDA proposals in plain language)
