The Blood Type Diet Archives Volume 2

Something I like about country music

It seems to avoid the capitalistic-elitist trap that eats away at other genres of music. Take the innovative superstar Garth Brooks for example; I tuned into his Ireland tv special last night just in time to cry my eyes out to "Tommorow Never Comes." The guy genuinely appreciates ALL his fans, especially the ones who choose to tune in with a tinfoil/coathanger as an antenna. Last summer, Yankee Stadium would've probably been sold out for $50-100 a head, but instead NYC had a free-admission shindig in Central Park. Last nights show could've been sold as a pay-per-view for $20-a-house, but instead any American who had access to a tv had a chance to see it. I missed the first half hour and hope it's replayed this summer cuz it sure did good-golly touch my Irish soul.

There are so-many kinds of music that manipulate the pleasure sensors. It's funny how last weekend I scored a nice Antilles-label morroccan cd at the swap shop and I played it all Sunday long. When I checked these boards on Tues, it was striking that the doctor liked "Last Temptation" because Peter Gabriel's "Passion" soundtrack was my initiation into MiddleEastern music. As for disco, I heard a funny reitteration that occured between David Bowie and Brian Eno in 1975. Mr Eno came into Mr. Bowie's place holding a D.Summer/G.Moroder album. He raved "I HAVE HEARD THE FUTURE!" David asked him "Then put it on, would you?" He didn't quite get it at the time, but brian continued "JUST LISTEN! THOSE TEUTONIC DRUMS! THAT BLACK VOICE! THIS IS THE FUTURE!" Well personally, Brian Eno was prophetic 23 years ago, because this weekends' "ZenRave" I'm attending, God willing, will have plenty of those teutonic-synthesized drums and liberating gospel-vocalists, howling and thumping into the night.

How does this relate to a wellness process? Trust me, without music, humor and spirituality....I wouldn't be well.

Disparative Theorist,
