Ed,

Yes! that gets at my real worry. The mistake seems to be assuming the
information is complete and stand-alone, when it's not.

So far, of those who have spoken up in favor of keeping the lists,
the implication seems to be that you-all do have the book as well,
and see the lists as an added convenience. I wish that were true for all.
As I said below, it took me a couple of readings of the book
(to see I was clueless myself) and to really pick up on the composite picture.
