The Blood Type Diet Archives Volume 2
Ovarian cancer and dairy products
Posted By: Mary
Shortly after the actress Gilda Radner died of ovarian cancer, I read an article about ovarian cancer research at Roswell Park Cancer Research Institiute in Buffalo NY. They were looking at why this disease hits so many Jewish women. The suspect culprits were fermented dairy products, particularly yogurt and cottage cheese, which Jewish women ate a lot more of than other women. It was specifically the formation of galactose, which is one of the simple sugars that lactose is composed of that they hypothesized caused the ovarian cancer. I never heard the results of that study and wonder if any of you have heard about the results. Yogurt and cottage cheese are on my type A diet and I have a higher risk than most for ovarian cancer, so I thought I'd ask before I indulged.
