One of the 'other additives' that can kick in, and affects a few people I know, is the spray used to keep salad bars looking perky. It's not normal to have lettuce look crispy after sitting under a heat lamp for two hours!
I am particularly irked about this, since the salad bar should be an oasis for us, not a witch's apple.
