Dear Kathy, Celiac/sprue is usually helped by the blood type diet, as avoiding the lectins in foods gives the intestinal lining time to mature and heal. It is the immaturity of the gut lining (due to the rapid turnover of cells) which renders it even more sensitive in sprue than in normal circumstances. It is interesting that you note a connection to the flu. In many instances, flu will strip off the lining of the intestine, making it temporarily very sensitive to lectins and macromolecules (an also verifying the naturopathic notion of fasting during flu) Peter
