The DSP-1 is valuable for the degree of testing that is done. It includes the secretor status, and a variety of other parameters, such as the issohemaglutinin titer (the amount of antibody, assuming you are not type AB) that you make to the opposing blood groups.
The dietary recomendations are dated (1988) and are in conflict with many of the newer findings in the book, though they are now updating the software.
In sum, the home test is a quick and dirty test for just enough information to use the book. The DSP 1 is more in-depth, but you will pay for the detail.
