In Response To: depression, hot flashes (k baske)
Dear K Baske, The O diet and exercise program should have a positive effect on depression. As far as early menopause, this will have to be followed by a gyneocologist, but you can also investigate taking a non-estrogenic herb called "Black Cohosh" (Cimicifuga racemosa) which is safe and will help allay flashes without screwing with your estrogen/progesterone balance. Herbs to look at for depression can include St. John's Wort (Hypericum perfoliatum) and Gingko biloba. Both are safe to use in untreated mild depression, but if you are taking other anti-depression meds, you might want to stick with just the diet. Peter
