my family members have thallasemia minor and
a blood specialist i have seen said to never take
an iron supplement. when i was a little girl the
doctors would give me iron supplements and
iron shots and this would make me feel more
tired and more weak. your blood appears
oxygen starved and gives the appearance of
needing iron but it is misleading. you should
take a vitamin supplement with no iron.
folic acid helps in some cases but you will
need to advise any doctor that you see that you
are taking folic acid because it will give an
incorrect blood count. i was totallly unaware
that there are certain foods to be avoided and
would like to know which ones they are.
