Hi Kim, I was diagnosed w/ PMR alsoc .. I am 56 and was feeling great until it suddenly hit. I was put onto 20mg of Predizone and it helped significantly .. but then increased it to 30 mg and had much better results. My Dr says .. stay on 30mg .. it is a lkow dose anyway .. for about a month, then reduce the rate by 5mg/day each month and see what happens .. he feels that the m,edication could be required for 6 to 24 months. FYI I saw some info on prednizone that says that sudden reductions in doses causes severe problems, because when the drug is used, the body stops producing its own cortizone and the dosage has to be slowly withdrawn to avoid problems. MAybe your Dad just needs to insist on getting more of the medication ? Good luck .. I know how miserable your Dad must be feeling .. Les Stewart
