I, too, am an overachiever and have all gone through exactly what you've been through. Thinking back, I know I started have pains at the age of 15 and all of my doctors labeled them "arthritis pain". I was recently diagnosed with PMR (4 months ago) and am going through the prednisone treatment as you are. I have been very athlectic all my life and now I can barely play a small game of basketball. In the last 18 years, I have been diagnosed with every weird case of this and that. Now, looking back, it PMR all along. My doctor diagnosed me by accident. He sent my blood to the lab to be tested for Rheumatoid Arthritis, but told me I had either PMR or Fibromylgia Rheumatica. My doctor later told me it was PMR. I know my personality was such that I was prone to stress and my body manifested the affects rather well. I am an administrative assistant by profession, but I may soon have to leave my position for something less stressful. It affected my wrist and I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome, but prednisone took care of that. I agree with all that you have described. I know live a life of pain IF I DO NOT GET MY DAILY DOSE OF PREDNISONE. My doctor keeps telling me that I can not live on it forever and the thought makes me go insane. I am only 33 yrs. old and have two beautiful children and a very loving husband. I live and go on each day for them. Before the medication, I literally laid in bed every chance I had to sleep the pain away. Not that it ever worked, but it was worth the try. Laughter is good medicine!
