Dessicated thyroid is an alternative. I use a product called Thyrostim from Biotics. Also, another prescription that may be better, from what I understand, is Armored thyroid. As for a connection with the blood type, I believed it's mentioned with Type O. See my post on fluoride (competitive inhibition with iodine in the thyroid which causes underproduction).
