Your dilemma is not unlike the type A posts under "Trying to do the Zone diet" subjects. Rather than trying to convince you that you are wrong (which I have absolutely no right to do), let me say that the book is more than just a diet, and there are many other aspects, such as exercise, stress reduction, and supplements that can be successfully employed.
You might also benefit from knowing what grains to include in your plans, even if they are a small percentage of your calorie intake, and that soy should be an important part of your total protein picture. This is a point which I made on Dr. Atkins Radio Show this afternoon.
I just looked up "blood type" in the Index to "Mastering the Zone" and although only briefly mentioned, Dr. Sears does agree that A's can do a bit better than the other types on certain carbs. Other approaches may have better short term results, but are rather like putting sawdust in an old car engine- it works better for a while....
Many of Dr. Sears and Dr. Atkin's suggestions can successfully be incorporated into an A type diet, but think of the benefits as accruing in years, not months.
