10mg is a relatively low dose to start with, but can be very effective. The dose should be lowered very slowly and by only 1mg increments (1mg pills are available). The main guide is how well the patient feels and how much pain/activity there is. Activity level is also dictated by the patient; some physical exercise must be done every day, however, never over-done. It seems that a lowering of 1mg about every two months is about right, and the patient will know without a doubt if this is right for her. Patience is all-important, but do not allow oneself to stop any activity, just be careful and positive.
