In Response To: Re: Polymyalgia rheumatica/ Type A (Mary Guthrie Augustine)

i have had fibromyalgia for 9 years, following an
auto accident that left me in a chronic "flare up
condition, i developed polymyagia rheumatica.
my doctor says they go hand in hand.i had such
difficulty walking, getting out of bed to go to work, that i had no choice but to go on the
prednisone(20 mgs daily).after 6 mos,we worked
me down to 5 mgs(terrible withdrawl pain after
each 5mg reduction,for two weeks,each time).
then, i developed GCA( a sight threatning aside
to polymyalgia) and we had to increase to 60 mgs daily-i gained 90 lbs,but at least was able to
keep i am back down to 5 mg one
day,10 mgs the bone degenerative
disease has worsened and i suffer terrible bone
arthritic pain, difficulty walking, sitting.but, my eyes no longer hurt and my energy levels are
up,muscle pain and body fevers reduced.i have
not had to take an ice water bath in a long time.
i have no doubt that the auto accident triggered
me into a chronic flare up condition.before that,
my fibromyalgia would flare up 2-3 times a year,
i would rest,be ok in two or three days-it was
manageable.i just started taking glucosamine
and chondroitin and feel the arthritis may improve.good luck to everyone out there with
this awful disease.i am seeing and increase of
fibromyalgia among co-workers---anyone know
of studies that definetly define computers as a
possible cause??
