I am a twenty seven yr. old female. I was placed on synthroid for weight loss when I was in the sixth grade, by my mother & rural country doctor. (I had no symptoms requiring hypothyroid medication) I was diagnosed with Graves Disease in 1989 & was treated via radioactive-iodine. I have been to three endocrinologists with little help of controlling my
underactive thyroid problems... The result has been a phenomenal amount of weight gain as well as dental problems... My teeth are so soft that they are deteiorating. I have been off of all
medication for two years, I do not see the point of returning to the doctors when they could not offer assistance or support in explaining my weight gain & could only prescribe more synthroid and new diets.. I have gained approx. 80 lbs since I have stopped the mediction, I walk two miles a day and am a vegetarian (have been for three years) and yet I still wear a size 28 in clothes... I am quite discouraged & would love any feedback... Please feel free to contact me a
