I've had eczema since I was a toddler and it flares up periodically. Originally misdiagnosed as ringworm, it was finally identified by an allergy doctor as eczema. He perscribed a steroid cream which works astonishingly quickly, but I don't really like to merely treat a symptom when I can fix the problem.
I noticed that it flares up when certain foods touch my skin (tomatoes, potatoes, pumpkin, squashes) and when I eat some of these things. Since I have been following the O diet, I've noticed that any time I fall off the wagon and eat wheat it flares right up.
It might be interesting to experiment with eliminating some foods and see if there is a connection. It always seems to be our favorites, too, so I'd start with those. ;)
Among the many substances I used to help my skin while trying to make the diet connection are: bag balm (works well but stinks), vitamin e oil (worked really well but it's sticky), corn huskers lotion (made things worse), and commercial lotions (none worked well and high-alcohol content lotions made things worse.)
Good luck.
