Rice Gluten

Hi. I posted a message last week about rice gluten but I was away and the posting doesn't go back further than the 20th so I missed any answers I may have received. I appreciate your patience and help in re-answering this question.

Is the gluten in glutinous (sticky) rice the same as the gluten in wheat? I am an O and eat many Asian dishes that use glutinous rice.

For that matter, what is gluten? Where does it come from? Is it a part of the wheat berry? Is it taken from wheat and added to rice to make glutinous rice? How does it work?

Peace.

Carol Anne
