I'm Lewis Double Negative, and a saliva test revealed that I am a genuine non-secretor. Giving up sugar (an avoid for us nonnies) has had a major impact to my life with regards to health and attitude towards life.
I grew up in a Fish & Chip shop and was raised on fried potato chips until I was about 11. It was policy with my first school that every child in grade 1 - 7, receive a small bottle of milk (250ml - 4oz) every morning.
So by the age of 6 I was getting constant Bronchitis. By age 8 severe pollen allergies (hayfever). By age 10 my first Asthma attack. We moved to another state a year later, but I kept getting asthma every Spring/Summer until about 21. Bronchitis turned into chest infections (URI's). The last 10 years chest infections have been coupled with Asthma.
I was chubby as a kid until I became a teenager, so it probably reflects insulin resistance.
When I was 20 and doing a little bodybuilding, my instructor recommended some Ornithine and Argenine amino acid supplements. I took twice the recommended dose and he exclaimed "you'd never get to sleep". I said I slept easy and he said geez you must have a slow metabolism (your question about metaboic rates).
Next month I will be celebrating 1 year on ER. I only quit sugar a month or so ago, need to do a few more Liver cleanses, will be seeing my TCM practitioner for a few visits (as an extra, I hope he fixes my elbow pain that I developed a month ago), then I need to start exercising.
I weigh about 100kg (220 pounds). My goal/plan is to lose around 25kg (55 pounds) by June/July.
