I will give you my advice, and you can take it with a grain of salt( if salt is on your list of acceptable foods).
I quit 11 years ago cold turkey. I based my quitting on several factors, but what helped me was some scientific research that was going on at the time. This may run contrary with your dieting goals, so this is where the salt comes in. "After you quit smoking do not attempt to loose the weight by dieting for at least one year." The research concluded that trying to diet so soon after smoking ceasation would bring back the cravings for cigarettes.
My other advice is to stay away from smokers, and don't talk to people about smoking. Out of sight , out of mind.
I hope that this will help, and remember nicotine is out of the system in less than a week, so all you have to do is change your habits.
