Armour Thyroid
Posted By: Andrea O+ Date: Sunday, 9 December 2001, at 8:46 a.m.
I just started Armour thyroid and am concerned because I understand it is made from pig glands. Since we are not allowed pork -- is this a problem??? PS My new doctor will not use Synthroid -- he says he has much better results with Armour. I'm on the tiniest dose possible (1/4) grain because my doctor suspected low thyroid function despite "normal" tsh tests as the cause of my extreme hair shedding and low body temperature. I've been to countless derms, endocrinologists, etc over the past 8 months and none have helped -- they just say, your tests are normal (and ignore the handfuls of hair coming out!) My new doctor also prescribed a low-carb diet (which I am already on)-- he has been a low-carber himself for many years. I am cautiously optimistic because after only 7 days, my hair shedding really seems to be reduced. Thoughts?
